Resumix Resume Writing

Format and Duration:
This workshop is highly effective, fast moving and informative in a half-day, 3 hours session.

Workshop Overview and Objectives:

In this half-day workshop, the Resume Place expert trainers lead federal employees through the key points of writing a Resumix for Department of Defense agency job applications. The Resume Place's proven interactive techniques will enable participants to research keywords and skills and include outstanding accomplishments in a required format. This course will inspire federal employees to manage their careers and produce resumes that represent their most marketable, up-to-date skills, accomplishments and competencies. Curriculum is based on the Electronic Federal Resume Guidebook, DOD's Resumix System.

Who Should Attend this Workshop?

  • Employees for Defense and other agencies where the electronic resume is the standard format.
  • Employees who need to update their resumes and submit their resume to the Resumix system, especially in the environment of competitive outsourcing and government reorganization.
  • Human resource and other professionals who need to advise others on career changes.

Participants Will Learn How To:

  • Interpret vacancy announcements to target their application package.
  • Write work experience descriptions that are specific and concise.
  • Identify Key Words they must use to trigger selection of their resumes in an automated system.
  • Play up skills essential to surviving in the current competitive climate.
  • Recognize, write and include accomplishments that will make their Resumix stand out in the Supervisor's resume review - and get an interview!
  • Transform information in their old 171 or 612 into concise, persuasive, three to five-page electronic resumes.
  • Format their Resumix so that it is correct for the Resumix system and readable for the Supervisor. Using an outstanding electronic resume format designed by the curriculum developer and author of the book.
  • Learn how to write a "one resume fits all" Resumix for multiple occupational series.

Syllabus:

Courses are off-the-shelf, but customized to fit the agency's Resumix application system. Final content will depend on types of positions, grade levels and specific needs of the contracting agency. This syllabus is an example of content typically presented in this course.
