Workshop Curriculum
Executive Federal Resumes and SES ECQ Writing
Check Schedule | |
The major challenge for an SES Candidate is to package your executive leadership
and management qualifications so that both the agency hiring panel members and
the OPM Qualifications Review Board will see that you are the best person for
the job! This is no small challenge! It's a matter of relevant qualifications,
writing and presentation, packaging, accomplishments, leadership capabilities,
perseverance and much, much more!
This invaluable workshop is fast-paced and covers everything
above, but focuses on how to write and format an executive federal resume and
the new Executive Core Qualifications: Leading Change, Leading People, Results-Driven,
Business Acumen, and Building Coalitions.
You will learn how to write an executive federal resume
that will emphasize your career accomplishments and results. You will see what
an outstanding federal resume looks like and how you can easily target your experience
toward a specific announcement.
You will actually write four new resume and ECQ sections
in class: a profile statement; a new description of your current job; an accomplishment;
and one ECQ statement. The workshop is lively, fast-moving, provides time for
in-class writing and peer reviews. The emphasis is on a new way of thinking and
writing about your senior management position in government and your role as a
current or future government leader. The workshop is inspirational (you will WANT
to start writing the new resume and ECQs) and can result in establishing contacts
with your peers.

- Your current SF-171, OF-612 or resume; a recent announcement (current or past); your organization's mission statement; any list of accomplishments. A portable laptop computer could be helpful for individuals who prefer to write and save

Writing a Successful Resumix Resume
Check Schedule
If your agency has converted to the new Resumix system, you need this workshop!
The major challenges of the Resumix resume are length and skills! How can you
effectively edit a 15- to 20-page SF-171 into 2 or 3 pages and get enough "hits"
to be highly-qualified with an automated scanner? In this workshop you will learn
how to find the SKILLS and KEY WORDS that you MUST put into your Resumix resume
to be qualified for a specific job. You will also learn how to edit and decide
what education, training and positions you should include in your Resumix resume
(within the required page limit). We will analyze vacancy announcements, mission
statements and website printouts to find the key words. You will then learn how
to format your resume and edit your career history into a tight, correct format.
The Resumix resume is like a puzzle; there are a certain amount of pieces that must fit.
The workshop will also review the application processes and give you insight into
how the Resumix software scans and rates resumes.
