KSAs and Essays

KSAs have not been eliminated … even with the Hiring Reform of Nov. 1st, 2010. There have been incremental steps toward the decreasing of KSAs, but they are not eliminated as of yet. Many federal vacancy announcements still require you to write KSAs or essays for questionnaires. You can consider them to be Part 2 of your application. The purpose of the KSA or questionnaire is to help the hiring officials screen out applicants who do not have the specialized experience needed for the job and help identify the best qualified applicant.
