USAJOBS RECRUITMENT ONE STOP (ROS) AND
MONSTER GOVERNMENT SOLUTION / QUICKHIRE NEWS:
Monster Government Solutions / QuickHire is working with USAJOBS to implement Recruitment One Stop (ROS) application system for faster, more efficient job applications.
Here’s a quick summary of the different “how to apply” instructions with the previous QuickHire application and the new Recruitment One Stop system.
Before ROS: For instance, before the job applicant would do this to apply for a job:
1. Go to USAJOBS to find an announcement, read about “how to apply”, and follow the directions.
2. Usually the applicant would be guided toward the agency’s website
3. At the agency’s website the applicant would register to apply for the job at their site, then copy and paste their resume into the agency’s resume builder
4. Then the applicant would answer questions and submit essay answers
5. Then they would Submit or Apply for the job
After ROS:
Now with DOL and NASA, here is the way the applicant will apply for a job:
1. Go to USAJOBS to find an announcement, read about “how to apply”, and follow the directions.
2. Fill out the profile on www.usajobs.gov and submit the resume into the Resume Builder on USAJOBS
3. Then the applicant will be guided to the agency’s website the applicant answer questions and submit essay answers.
4. Then they would Submit or Apply for the job
ANOTHER GREAT FEATURE ABOUT USAJOBS ROS:
You can submit up to 5 resumes into the USAJOBS Resume Builder. You can keep different versions of your resume!
WHY AREN’T ALL AGENCIES USING THIS MORE SIMPLE HOW TO APPLY SYSTEM?
This is a conversion process that will take time. More and more agencies will be moving toward the USAJOBS Resume Builder + Agency Questions. We will keep you alerted when other agencies change to the Recruitment One Stop system.
SAMPLE AGENCIES USING USAJOBS ROS:
FIRST ROS AGENCY – WWW.DOL.GOV
www.dol.gov
DEPARTMENT OF LABOR IS THE FIRST RECRUITMENT ONE STOP SYSTEM! www.dol.gov is using both Monster Government Solutions/Quickhire and USAJOBS Resume Builder to manage vacancy announcements, recruitments and resumes received. Check out their new smoother, more efficient job application system:
Here’s the DOL instructions for How To Apply with ROS. Step 1 is USAJOBS Resume Builder. Step 2 is QuickHire DOORS set-up. Step 3 is fax or email the attachments.
HOW TO APPLY:
Your application and required supplemental information must be received by midnight Eastern Standard Time (EST) on the closing date
of the vacancy announcement.
STEP ONE - (Online Resume - USAJOBS)
You must create a user account and at least one Federal resume at USAJOBS. Information you provide in USAJOBS is general information
completed by all applicants. The information you provide and your Federal resume will become part of your application and will automatically be transferred to the DOORS system when you apply
on-line
STEP TWO - Vacancy Specific Questions - DOORS)
In DOORS, you will answer vacancy specific questions necessary to
evaluate your qualifications for the specific job to which you
are applying. When completed, the information you provided at
USAJOBS and the answers to the DOORS questions will become your
application. After the vacancy closes the HR office uses the
application package to automatically rate, rank and certify
candidates.
STEP THREE - (Supporting Documentation):
All required supplemental information, as specified within the
vacancy announcement, must be received by midnight Eastern Standard
Time (EST) on the closing date of the vacancy announcement. Required
and supplemental documentation must be sent to the Fax Number
and/or mailed to the point-of-contact identified within this vacancy
announcement. Documentation forwarded to the DOORS Help Desk will
not meet the submission requirements for this position. The
servicing Human Resources Office, on a case-by-case basis, may
review extenuating circumstances.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
We are requiring that two documents be submitted to us, via fax,
prior to the closing date of this announcement. (1) A recent SF-50,
and (2) Proof of eligibility for CTAP or ICTAP status.
Required and supplemental documentation must be sent to the Fax
Number and/or mailed to the point-of-contact identified within this
vacancy announcement. Documentation forwarded to the DOORS Help
Desk will not meet the submission requirements for this position.
ANOTHER USAJOBS ROS AGENCY

NASA STARS IS USING ROS ALSO! (formerly a Resumix system)
Effective October 1, 2005, under a Federal-wide initiative called Recruitment One-Stop, NASA STARS began using new job search and application tools. On October 1, we became fully integrated with the USAJOBS site, so that you may seamlessly create a resume, search for jobs, and apply on-line – all using links found on the pages you are using.

1.
Hello Stacie – GOT THE INTERVIEW:
I got a interview for a Information Technology Specialist (GS-9) Customer Support position here in San Diego. This was rather sudden I only submitted the Resume less than two months ago. I got a call today and a interview tomorrow. I really appreciated all of your help and I'm really excited and looking forward to this interview. I know that now I must sell myself.
I was wondering if you have any advice other that go get that job.

2.
Hi Greg, INTERVIEW TIPS FROM KATHRYN:
• Take the vacancy announcement and analyze every line in the Duties section.
• Look at how many sentences are in the description. Maybe 10?
• Analyze all of the most important skills in the 10 sentences.
• Match up your experience to the skills in the 10 sentences. (type up the list and memorize it)
• Be ready to answer questions in support of the most important skills.
• And be prepared to give examples that demonstrate your knowledge.
• Have a good work story that demonstrates a couple of these skills. Make it interesting so they don't loose attention.
• Good luck, be positive, smile once in awhile, and keep thinking: THEY NEED ME.
Kathryn
3.
Hi Greg, one more thing to NEGOTIATE ...
You can negotiate certain things with HR when it comes time for them to give you a formal offer.
Look at my last newsletter.
This is really important. After you accept the position, you can't negotiate. You have to do it when the offer is made.
Kathryn
4.
Hello Kathryn – INTERVIEW WENT WELL
The Interview went very well, and the person I interviewed with had already contacted my present and past employers. I guess this would be a quick higher, but that's different. Thanks for all of your help and advice. Stacie the resume as per the interviewer was awesome. I'll keep you posted. Greg
5.
Hello Kathryn – GOT THE JOB
I was offered the job and accepted today after completing all of the pre-hire requirements. I wanted to say Thank you! Thank you! for providing a outstanding service. I must tell you that I had bookmark you site for a year or more and read all your articles etc.. before making the decision to try the government for employment. Hats off to Stacie for helping me complete my resume. I will be referring people to your website. I did negotiate the salary and thank you for the advice. The Job was an Information Technology Specialist GS-9 a few steps higher than the norm. - Thank You. Greg
