“I am thrilled to have participated in this event,” said Troutman. “The Federal government is the largest employer in the world, however, the federal hiring process can be very complex. My goal is to provide career counselors with the skills and tools they need to successfully help students obtain federal employment.”

According to a Government Executive April 23, 2007 article, entitled, Filling the Cubicles of the Future, “With a record number of workers nearing retirement, the government needs to attract new talent and provide greater incentives for seasoned employees to stay on the job…Over the next decade, about 60 percent of the 1.8 million full-time federal employees will be eligible for retirement, including 90 percent of senior executives.”

"There will be available jobs and internship opportunities for our talented young people, and we have to be aggressive to help ensure that these positions will be filled,” said Troutman, who has worked with such organizations as the nonprofit Partnership for Public Service to strengthen and increase the ability and knowledge of university and career counselors to better serve their students in the federal hiring process.

Kathryn Troutman is the leading federal jobs trainer at the Department of Defense and many Federal agencies across the US and in Europe and for university and college career counselors.
