Baltimore, MD. –
Kathryn Kraemer Troutman, noted “Federal Resume Guru,” Federal Career Coach,
author and speaker joined other well-known speakers and presenters at the 2007
EACE “Hire” Learning conference held in Baltimore from June 20-22, 2007. This
event provides attendees the opportunity to participate in topical sessions,
three engaging program tracks and innovative technological line-ups.
In addition, attendees had fun dropping off their business cards at The Resume Place, Inc. exhibit table for a chance to win great raffle prizes. Congratulations go out to Donna Yamanis, a career counselor at Briarwood College, and Rose Howard, a career transition counselor at the Naval Academy, in Annapolis, MD. Yamanis won 20 Student Federal Career Guides & CD-ROMs, valuing $420, and Howard won the Certified Federal Job Search Trainer Program, a value of $1,295.

at the Radisson Plaza Lord Baltimore, Troutman conducted four
twenty-minute training sessions for university and career counselors and other
attendees on the Federal job search process using the curriculum from her
highly successful Certified Federal Job Search Trainer’s Program (CFJST), and the Student’s Federal Career Guide,
written by Troutman and her daughter Emily Troutman.
More than 40
university and college career counselors joined Troutman for her speed class at
the EACE conference. Participants learned about the Federal job search process
and how to effectively use her highly successful book, The Student’s Federal Career Guide, in helping students land
federal jobs and internships.

advise students in how to find Federal jobs and internships,

advise students in writing application tools,
- To
advise students in writing competitive Federal resumes for online
applications and resume builders,

that will result in referrals to supervisors,
- Utilize
the Student’s Federal Career Guide as a classroom handout or
as an one-on-one advisement document,
- Utilize
other Federal resume writing books and samples in helping students write
federal resumes and KSAs, and
- Obtain
more information on special students hiring programs such as STEP, SCEP,
and PMF
“I am thrilled to have
participated in this event,” said Troutman. “The Federal government is the
largest employer in the world, however, the federal hiring process can be very
complex. My goal is to provide career counselors with the skills and tools they
need to successfully help students obtain federal employment.”
According to a Government
Executive April 23, 2007 article, entitled, Filling
the Cubicles of the Future, “With a record number of workers nearing
retirement, the government needs to attract new talent and provide greater
incentives for seasoned employees to stay on the job…Over the next decade,
about 60 percent of the 1.8 million full-time federal employees will be
eligible for retirement, including 90 percent of senior executives.”
"There will be available jobs
and internship opportunities for our talented young people, and we have to be
aggressive to
help ensure that these
positions will be filled,” said Troutman, who has worked with such
organizations as the nonprofit Partnership for Public Service to strengthen and
increase the ability and knowledge of university and career counselors to
better serve their students in the federal hiring process.
Kathryn Troutman is the leading federal jobs trainer at the Department of
Defense and many Federal agencies across the US and in Europe and for
