Stephen Vowinkel joins The Resume Place with over 30 years of Human Resources and technology project management experience. As a Manager of Personnel and Industrial Relations, Stephen directed all facets of HR including interviewing, selecting, and placing the best qualified staff. Steve also gained experience in labor relations, performance management, employee benefits, and labor contract negotiations.
Stephen leveraged his Human Resources experience into a 20 plus year career in Human Resource technology with JPMorgan Chase, a leading global financial services firm with more than 200,000 employees. As a Vice President, Stephen managed a team of 14 Application Developers and Business Analysts employees and consultants spread over four locations including off shore through all aspects of the software application development life cycle. Stephen worked with team members to establish annual goals, objectives and learning plans. He focused on individual development, monitored achievement of professional goals, and managed performance based year end compensation.
Stephen successfully performed application integration for four mergers and numerous acquisitions. He evaluated all project architectures and designs and reviewed projects with the infrastructure teams. He ensured that audit, risk management and SOX requirements were properly included in project specifications. Stephen developed project proposals for senior management consideration and participated in the annual budget planning process. He communicated project status to senior management by maintaining the project management dashboards through the evaluation of project metrics, determining the over all project rating, and forecasting future project status.
Stephen served as lead programmer analyst for the procurement and enhancement of an enterprise application software package. He authored the Request for Information and Request for Proposal for the vendors’ information and installed the selected package. He completed the enhancements, upgrades and maintenance through the package life cycle.
Stephen has taught a college level technology course as an Adjunct Instructor of Computer Science.
Stephen’s most recent accomplishment was to gain Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute. Stephen has a Project Management Certification from BTII Institute and a Capability Maturity Model (CMM) Certification from Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute.
Stephen obtained a BA in Sociology from Monmouth University, an AS in Computer Science from Brookdale College, and a MSM in Information Management from Polytechnic Institute of New York University.
Stephen is a member of the Project Management Institute and is a Flotilla Staff Officer in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.
