Hey, it's a great time to get a government job! At least here in the DC area, the government is hiring and no one else is hiring much.
Gov't jobs have more security than the private sector. In our parent's generation, you could work for a private sector company for 30 years. Now you might only last 3 years if you are lucky. If you do well at your gov't job, there will always be a position for you in the gov’t.
The problem is wading through usajobs.gov, writing a concise, targeted resume and getting in for an interview.
I spent 4 or 5 months applying to various gov't positions and didn't get called in for 1 interview. I wasn't sure what I was doing wrong. Then I heard about the Ten Steps to a Federal Job workshop. I took it several months ago. And guess what? I have had 3 interviews in the last three weeks!
Getting a federal job is like winning the Preakness! It means getting ready for the event and all the preparation it takes to either win a horse race or winning at usajobs.gov! They are both grueling events and most people give up before the finish line.
Whether training for a horse race or training to finding a gov't job, you need a trainer. Ten Steps to a Federal Job workshop is a great trainer! Thank-you Kathryn!
