open quote Kathryn, Thank you for the tele-class today. It helped give me a new perspective on how to reformat and write my resume, along with some valuable insight into what HR is looking for in submissions. It also renewed my confidence that I can get a job in the federal government. close quote

open quote The class was useful for me in that it validated my use of the outline format for my resume. After reading the 3rd edition of your book, I decided the skill/outline approach was the best way to present my work experience. Also, the class provide some good insight into the federal hiring process and how resumes are handled. close quote

open quote Thank you, Kathryn for the opportunity to learn a new skill, the outline format to concisely provide qualification statements that will grab the attention of the HR reviewer. close quote

SES TESTIMONIAL:
This was written to provide support for an SES ECQ Writing Workshop for NASA:

Kathryn Troutman asked me to write you to discuss my experience with her and her firm, Resume Place.

I had the fortunate opportunity to apply for an SES position last year, mid-summer.  While I was confident that I could submit a well-written, qualifying application, I wasn't confident enough to take the chance that I might miss something. I chose Resume Place because I had heard some very positive comments about their process and style. My biggest concern was the limited time I had to submit the application.

Kathryn was wonderful. I already had a draft of my ECQs written so Kathryn asked me to send them along to her. This draft gave her an idea of who I was, what the agency was about (I was applying for a position within my agency), and what I had accomplished.

Again, because of my limited time, we did a lot of work through email. She and her staff coached me through each qualification item. What I thought was a "good" application soon began to develop into so much more. Having the experience and accomplishments to succeed into the SES rank is one thing - documenting it appropriately is quite another. Her staff guides you through the process, helping you to understand what each ECQ means so that you focus on mission accomplishments and document your application accordingly.

Bottom line - I was successful in my pursuit. I was selected for the SES position in September 2006. I am currently serving on my first ERB, reviewing applications for another SES position within my agency. What I learned from Kathryn and her group is now helping me as I work through these applications.

I am most appreciative of Kathryn and Resume Place.  Her style of coaching, editing, and just as important, her encouragement, throughout the process made this nerve-wracking experience much more tolerable.

Thank You.
