Federal Resume & KSA Writing for Federal Career Interns

Format and Duration:
The fast-paced, highly interactive workshop can be full-day or ˝ day program for Presidential Management Fellows, Emerging Leaders or Federal Career Internship Program participants.

Workshop Overview and Objectives:

Agencies can keep the best and the brightest in government! The seemingly "baffling" process of applying for competitive positions in government has doubtless contributed to the low number of interns transitioning to permanent federal positions. This workshop will equip your interns with the best tools for landing permanent career positions in government.

By the end of this course, each participant will have completed the writing of at least one accomplishment, one KSA with the CCAR model, an outline of their current position and a summary of their experience. The time spent on writing the resume outlines and KSAs will build foundations for their future government careers. Instructional methods will include the Internet, PC projector, sample resumes and a structured PowerPoint™ presentation. In small groups, participants will gain added benefits from speaking about their skills and listening to other participants' shared examples.

Value Added Intern Advance Preparation Program For Federal Career Planning Workshops held within the first 6-12 months of an internship program, participants will learn how to write a one-page resume that can be used for marketing their skills and experiences for rotational assignments and mentor introductions. They will also be trained on maintaining better records of their projects and accomplishments during an internship. This will give them the optimum advantage of advance preparation for the permanent job search near the end of their internship. Interns who complete the workshop early in their internship will be better prepared to think ahead, research job announcements, learn about job titles and agencies, and make better decisions concerning their future federal careers.
