If you have the time, interest, energy and passion for the job, we would recommend that you write a cover letter.

You don't HAVE to write a cover letter for a Federal job. In fact, if the vacancy announcement is an automated application process, you CAN'T write a cover letter.

Through our many years of resume writing workshops in government, we have found that the cover letter can make your package stand out. You can write about why you want the position and what unique qualifications you can offer. The letter is another selling opportunity about why you are the best candidate for the job.
